Winter Essentials: Lip Balms

New York’s winter has been a little bit harsher than last year’s temperatures and conditions. If there is anything you need to know about New York or Northeastern weather in general… is that it gets SO cold to the point where your fingers go numb and the pain experienced with this bitter coldness is NOT fun.

This season I found my skin has been feeling unusually dry to the point where its irritating. I figured I am not the only one battling the harsh winter so I decided to share with you some of my current favorite lip products. One of my top winter essential’s for me is a really moisturizing and long lasting balm – any glossy finish is just a plus! I always have some sort of gloss or balm in my coat pocket, in my car or beside me (I currently have two beside me as I am writing this blog post).

Here are some lip balms I always have on me:

Maybelline Baby Lips Moisturizing Lip Balm – This has been one of my ultimate favorite lip balm’s since high school! Its super moisturizing while giving a glossy finish. I always have at least one lying around in my room, purse or car – the price point is great too! You can snag one for just $2.98 at your local Walmart.

Maybelline Baby Lips Crystal Moisturizing Lip Balm, Pink Quartz – I recently discovered this fantastic pink glitter tube at my local pharmacy – It’s just as good as the original formula, the only difference is that it has a subtle pink shimmer when you apply it to your lips.

Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm – This is currently my favorite higher priced lip balm. Its silky, super luxe and a little goes a long way! Anyone that has asked for lip balm to use and tries my Summer Fridays is instantly impressed and asking for more. Its cruelty-free, vegan and contains seed butters and natural vanilla leaving your lips looking glossy for the gods.

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask – This cult favorite truly lives up to its expectation! With vitamin C, antioxidants and its Moisture Wrap technology locks and seals the moisture you need for those super cold days. I keep this one close by in my night drawer. The original berry flavor is also available in Grapefruit, Apple Lime, Vanilla and Sweet Candy.

The Original 101 Ointment by Lanolips – This super-balm immediately caught my eye with its pink and soft purple packaging. It has a thicker consistency almost like a body butter moisturizer – it’s marketed as an ointment for a reason. The main and only ingredient is Lanolin (pretty straight forward in its name) and the best part is that its multipurpose! So you can go ahead and use it for your hands, cuticles, your cheeks for a dewy look and its even suggested for mothers who are breastfeeding.

Vaseline Lip Therapy Pink Bubbly Tin – This pretty packaged Vaseline has a moisture level 3 out of 5. It keeps my lips moisturized without over saturating my lips. The Pink Bubbly actually contains wine extract, staying true to its name. The packaging is super cute and with Galantine’s coming up it makes the perfect little gift for the friend who loves all things pink!
